Jen is a gorgeous woman, but seriously, is she the best person to help women feel comfortable with their own bodies? I admire her for not photoshopping the shot, like most magazines do, but how many of us are naturally leggy and slim? Not everyone's a beautiful supermodel. Most Australians are not a size 8. My personal opinion would be a size 10-14, and these people are still beautiful people. Why didn't Marie Claire choose a more average sized woman? Maybe it's because they're worried that the magazine won't sell if they put a size 12 woman on its cover instead of a size 8 model? Maybe, maybe not.

In an attempt to help women feel better about themselves (HA!), Marie Claire Australia had Jennifer Hawkins (a former Miss Universe) take her clothes off and demand the art department not retouch the photos.Marie Claire teamed up with the Butterfly Foundation, an organisation offering to help Australians suffering from eating disorders and negative body image issues, and brainstormed a nude Hawkins cover so young women can see what a *real* body looks like — cellulite, warts, fat rolls and all.How brave. But why didn’t Marie Claire choose a woman who, you know, actually does have cellulite, warts and fat rolls?

Here’s an update on Roni’s post “Baby Step? Untouched Photo on Cover of Marie Claire” which discussed the photo of Former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins on the cover of Marie Claire. As it turns out, the fact that she is NUDE is getting more attention than the fact that she is UNAIRBRUSHED.
Ahhh yeah — this chick looks perfect, even with no touch ups, so do you think she may not have been the right choice to serve as an example to girls and women that we need to “get real?”
